I have this flat iron and I think it is great. I used to use it alot and I enjoyed it, but it is really big and I learned later that I work better with a smaller flat iron. If you work well with this size of iron than this might be great for you.

I have had four different CHI irons in the last eight years. I work in a beauty salon and use my CHI multiply times a day. I have only ever had one break and I dropped it on a ceramic tile floor. When using my CHI I only turn it on when I am ready to use it, it only takes about a minute to heat up and when I am done using it I turn it off. The only reason I have had four irons is because I upgraded from the original to the nano and then to the wet to dry digital.
If you take good care of your iron it will last a long time. Also I don't wrap the cord around the iron. I loop it in big loops and secure it with a velcro strap.

I've had my CHI flat iron for about 6 years. I haven't had a single problem with it till today. One of the plates came lose but is fixable with a high heat epoxy. I feel I got my money's worth with this item. I have no complaints. The claims about it frying hair haven't been my experience at all. Any iron at any temp can fry your hair if not used properly. It depends on the user. That fact that this one is ceramic makes it awfully hard to actually fry your ends unless too big of a section of hair is being done over and over again and the iron is left in for too long. Any stylist will tell you to straighten small sections layer by layer for best results. If you keep any ceramic iron in your hair for too long it will cause damage. I have very wavy, coarse hair and have had no problems getting shiny straight split-end FREE locks. I am naturally dark blonde and have platinum highlights and this hasn't been an issue either. A Must for Straightening Hair!
My first Chi lasted for 6 years. (Actually, it still works. It just doesn't get as hot as it used to.) I loved my iron, but I was convinced by others that the quality is no longer the same. That's when I bought the Sedu Flat Iron since it had such great reviews. After suffering from frizzy and dry hair caused by the Sedu for weeks, I decided it was time to order a Chi. My hair is now shiny and silky looking again. I am writing this review, so people don't waste their time and money (UPS charge) on another iron.

let my hair dry naturally and then flat-iron it later (and only my CHI will do!), but in the past this always meant enduring the frizzies in the meantime. Then a friend... to flat-iron my hair at all!
